The Cum Man

Saturday | June 8th, 2013

See this sign (top)? This is a perfect example of why you should never use Konglish or think yourself clever with Konglish words or act like Konglish is Korean because you’re pronouncing an English word in the most extenuated over-stressed way possible. You shouldn’t do these things because you will look stupid.

The sign at the top needs some explaining, but it says, “See you cum man”. The problem is the word computer, and that the Korean language has no word of its own for computer, so Koreans went ahead and stole borrowed computer and wrote it phonetically in Hangeul as “컴퓨터” (cum – pyew – tuh). So this fellow, chose as the name of his computer shop: 컴 아저씨 (cum a – juh – shee). 아저씨 means man, any man either older than you (but not elderly) or over about 20 years old. And the Cum Man has some kind of club/certification/branding called Computer Uncer (Uncel) which doesn’t mean anything unless you stretch it phonetically in English as ‘un-sell’ and then a little further to ‘unsellable’. Computer Uncer has a special branding element with the first two letters, C and U, situated as the C going through the U (adding yet another layer to his perversion). There you have it: “See you cum man”—the computer shop.
