Day 517

Sunday | July 28th, 2013

It was easier today and just reviewing the basics took enough of the class that I could see a higher level of involvement and processing over yesterday. I also found out that a Friday birthday party may have also been a drinking thing and the reluctance was most likely fatigue and hangover.

We didn’t deviate into markup, styles, or programming, but I was greatly tempted to discover a way to divert yesterday’s (now today’s) lesson plan into making stuff rather than trying to cram it all in or rote it there. Mostly I tried to get them to take that conceptual leap to seeing, drawing on background knowledge and then being able to output so form of communication, but even that was a challenge for most of the students.

It rained a warm morning rain and I took an umbrella expecting the day to be exactly this. The rain stopped round noon and I carried home a folded up umbrella and the heat pressed on.
