Day 492

Wednesday | July 3rd, 2013

I thought about writing here for maybe four minutes total for the entire day. Those minutes were broken up into fleeting thoughts mere seconds long each but the longest one lasting probably 23 seconds as I wrestled with what was more important: being a few days behind (again) or cracking the mystery of getting recording software to start automatically when a .ppt slideshow does. Naturally, the one that needed the most research and internet scouring won. Naturally.

Why write for pleasure when I can code for personal glory! … and therein lay much of the problems with my life since moving to Gyeongju, nay, since starting at The CEC—the quest to do it better, smarter, once, and the perverted joy in that accomplishment.

I realized a while back that without some similar situation with writing, or just art in general, that I was much happier needling my way through this seemingly tedious shit for the time being. I’m not sure why that has changed for me or when it did change (the change started with The CEC, but I’m talking about when it became acceptable for life to be like that).

I also didn’t take any pictures today. If anything spurs anti-writing, it’s the absence of images to go with it.
