Day 429

Meow and I went to Homeplus today. This is usually an ordeal because it’s farther away than we’d like. And Homeplus is full of people and neither of us like being around throngs that much anymore. But we went anyway because we wanted some staples. Usually we cab there and cab back, but today it was cab there and bus back since we didn’t end up buying that much stuff.

I hopped off the bus a stop early because the bus was too annoying and Meow had pushed the button thinking it was the right stop. It was good for us to walk anyways—we can always us more exercise. Besides, if we’d jumped off in the right place we probably wouldn’t have seen this flower pot (above, left).

The World Secret Guard Federation though, that’s a couple of blocks from home. It might’ve been easy to miss if we won’t both pooped and devouring the Homeplus cookies as we went. I’ve no idea what the World Secret Guard Federation is guarding or how many secret guard there are in lowly Gyeongju, but I feel safer already just knowing it’s there.

So, that dream about putting the connector in backwards, I spent some time in the last few days looking for this picture of the connector (above; copyright iFixit) to see if the dream scenario was even possible. It looked like it was the same on both sides, but I couldn’t imagine Apple doing something silly like that.

PP brought her laptop over in the evening and I took it apart again. What I couldn’t see in the image of the connector was a little stub on one side which allowed it to key into only one position. But the initial feeling of the power circuits not connecting properly and the dream kept me digging through.

I finally noticed that the connector was loosish. I took a sewing needle and with a magnifying glass from a Swiss army knife and the LED light off of my phone, I gently bent all of the gold pins on the connector outward ever so slightly. That was all there was to it; once the connector was in, I pressed the power button and the machine booted.

And there it is: booted into Lion (10.7)

Daily Report

I didn’t sleep last night. I struggled to write or create a script that would grab an .mp3 from a folder, open it, insert markers in pre-determined places, split the audio file into eleven segments based on those
