Day 375

X

Friday is here already and it has brought more spring with it. Even when I left the house at 08.00 this morning and walked to work being a little chilly in nothing but an undershirt, dress shirt, sport jacket and winter slacks, the wind was warm. I was warm in my classrooms. I was warm as I sat in my office. At night as Meow and I walked around outside planning the garden and other improvements, I was warm.

It’s odd, that my hanok is still bone cold inside. The heat retention continues to be a big issue I think. The back of the house that was sometimes the warmest in the winter is now the coldest for reasons that I can’t yet put my head around.

Big plans we made today. Big plans on small money for the spring and coming summer. We have decided to put off a lot of the things we would like for the things that will do for another year. So, a new gate which blocks the cracks that spook the dogs into fits of barking when a stranger passes … wait. Covered deck in the front next to asshole neighbor where we will both compost and barbecue, drink and be (human) noisy … wait. Tearing out the walls and rebuilding them with proper insulation … wait. Making a greenhouse somewhere … wait. Expanding the front garden by devouring some of the very wide walkway … wait. In time, all things will come. We have seven or eight years to pay this house off and buy another one or buy land and build our own. That’s time enough to do all and more.

I went to lunch today because Friday’s are only 09.00 – 13.00. GD showed BL and I a decent buffet (something which Meow has been craving from time to time since we moved here). The first plate (above) I grabbed what I saw first without scouting the whole spread. The second and third plates were all Swiss Chard (the red kind) and tofu and heaps of steamed broccoli. With Meow out of action in the last few weeks I hadn’t been eating so well and heaps of dark green vegetables were exactly what I’d been craving.

The Daily Bullet

Of the many phone related problems—the most notorious of them being the repeated crashing of 6×7 since it directly affects this journal—low memory, the source of all such crashes is the worst. This background should be white, but the phone has run out of available memory because among other things, I must run an assisted services app as the Home button stopped working over the winter. Hopefully my contract is finally up and this can all be rectified with a hardware upgrade this weekend (which in addition to more memory, faster CPU, and much stronger GPU, would also entail moving from a 5 megapixel camera to an 8).

Daily Report

I didn’t sleep last night. I struggled to write or create a script that would grab an .mp3 from a folder, open it, insert markers in pre-determined places, split the audio file into eleven segments based on those

This Old Hanok

When we had the bathroom done, we wanted to design our own window for the part of the wall which straddles the storage space along the side of the house. This way we could have clean airflow through
