Day 342

Sunday | February 3rd, 2013

X

Another Sunday and we walk the dogs. What was a daily routine in Seoul and became a ‘when we can do it’ thing after moving here, has turned into a ‘when we feel like it.’ The losers are the dogs who used to get out every night (they were not behaved enough when they first came to us to function in the days of Seoul. When we lived in the flat, we’d take them out for two or three hours. Now, here in the hanok, in the crouch of winter, it’s Sundays, when we feel like it, when Meow is not sick, when I’m awake, when it’s not raining. Today was such a day for them.

Last time, it was a twenty minute affair. It almost took more time for us to both don dog walking clothes, harness Naughty and Twitchy, and shutter the hanok than it did to actually walk the dogs. Winter is good for no one except Twitchy who feels no cold. Naughty tends to pass out in weather like this, but we managed to push this walk to about an hour.

I took some pictures. This is a difficult thing to do with crazy on the other end of the leash which is wrapped around all the fingers of my left hand. If there is a bird in play, I’ll need all those digits to restrain her.

Really though, is this all there is to winters now? I’m starting to feel like I have the wrong job.

The Daily Bullet

Here it is again, the morning bathroom.
