Day 336

Monday | January 28th, 2013

After a lot of delays (like Meow being sick) we finally had time to get Naughty to the vet to see about the monster lump growing above his shoulder. But Meow decided that it would be better to take Naughty on her bicycle while I stayed at home with Twitchy.

It’s faster yes, but not really better because Twitchy thinks Naughty is having some kind of out-of-the-hanok party without her and, of course, flipped out immediately when she saw him get dolled up in his pink banger jacket and put into the basket. ‘Naughty gets snacks and Twitchy gets shit’ she must think. If only she knew. Twitchy doesn’t much like the vet. It smells like a hundred other dogs and cats and things. It’s also the place where she went in full and came out a tad sleepy and sickly and with less.

Meow called me from the vet to say that Naughty needed surgery for his lump and I took this to mean it was malignant and tried not to think about not having him around for the next hour or so. When they did come back, Naughty was bundled up in a hospital blanket and groggy. By “surgery” Meow had meant Naughty had to be knocked out so the vet could get all the infected puss out of the lump. Naughty simply screamed too much, like his Daddy.

The vet gave Meow a bunch of meds to plug him with and Twitchy still didn’t get it even though Naughty wasn’t even walking. We parked him inside next to Meow and the tv and resigned to leave him their until he was recovered enough to take care of himself.

The lump itself was some kind of puncture wound from something sharp. Neither Meow nor I have any inkling what sharp pointy culprit lurks in our yard. It’s just one of those things and Naughty will be okay in a few days.
