Day 302

Tuesday | December 25th, 2012

I’ve been having a slew of camera problems, again. It’s absurd to have a camera that constantly crashes, yet it’s a future predicted in the late 80s and early 90s—we would one day have everyday devices that wouldn’t work properly because their computering innards would became fracked.

I countered this first by cursing 6×7 for a number days, and responded by buying up more camera apps that supposedly would not crash. Then the iOS Camera app crashed a bunch too (hence no photo day). I took this to mean that there were larger phone/OS issues at play and a little internet searching proved me right. IPhones keep the photos taken in another app which has its own database … and it gets corrupted. The fix is to connect the phone to a computer, use Phone View to see the directory tree, then find and delete the database file. Reboot the phone, reopen the Photos app, and finally watch the app make a new database.

And that was how I wasted my Tuesday night. I woke up around 15.00. Getting up any early on Christmas seemed unholy. Poor Meow woke up on Christmas morning with the flu, putting a serious monkey wrench into our plans for the day which included guests and dinner. It also meant that I ran off to SJ & SJ’s Christmas party alone—all for spiked eggnog.

I braved my crash camera and took shots on the walk over. It seems that deleting the database worked and the camera apps—all of them are in working order again. (See above; hero image at the top; and the post thumbnail as proof.)

But, I arrived at the party alone and that meant I ate turkey alone, I ate cookies and cake alone, I stood around alone, I ate veggies alone, I played refrigerator wall-flower and made excuses for my wife’s absence, alone. The food and company were fine, but I missed my lady on Christmas.

(Above) A light fixture which perplexed this wallflower so and a slice of LG and JH to go with it. The other head? No clue; I wasn’t very social.

The Daily Bullet

That’s right, Daddy rules because he sits in front of an electric heater during the winter and pets the pug in his lap. He has his own internal heat engine which generates 16,000 BTUs in an hour. Plus, he eats lots of snacks and shares with pugs. Whereas Mommy sits on the floor and is always cold. Daddy Number 1.

Daily Report

I didn’t sleep last night. I struggled to write or create a script that would grab an .mp3 from a folder, open it, insert markers in pre-determined places, split the audio file into eleven segments based on those
