For Chuseok we didn’t go anywhere. Usually we go to MIL’s house to eat a big meal with MIL, FIL, and BIL, then ride out to the two-horse town where Meow’s grandmother’s house is in Gangwon-do. But this year, since we just moved into our hanok and we have the dogs (something else we didn’t have a year ago), we invited Meow’s family to come here and stay with us for the holiday.

It seemed like a good plan and it was, only Chuseok traffic is like Thanksgiving traffic in the States. Plus about 12. What is normally a 4-5 hour drive from Seoul to Gyeongju would be a 10 or more hour stop-and-go fiasco not worth anyone’s time. So then the plan became ‘let’s do Chuseok next weekend’.

So today, MS & J came over instead and the girls cooked together while MS and I talked a little too much about work and some more about our futures. Naturally, houses figured into that.

It was a great afternoon and evening, and I even had time to get obsessed about the roof over the outside bathroom before they arrived. I had most of it swept of the clutter and dirt and other scuzz when the rattled out gate. Now, another thing is clean and, of course, its inadequacies revealed so my brain can work on how to fix them. (That’s a tale for another day …)
